Update - TSA

Good news all around! TSA asked as the bag went through if it was a musical instrument; they did not pull my backpack! Yay! Also, the flight attendants have asked if it’s a musical instrument because it is larger/longer than allowed typically however when I confirmed it was flutes, it was allowed as a carry on.
Last, I was sent a set of modified straps that cover the upper clips as a test and can confirm that the covered straps work very well!

Holds around 9 good size flutes, in my opinion. Has a storage pouch in he front and back. Not a lot of cushion.

The Backpacker Flute Case 36"

This is a great flute case for carrying many flutes including my longest (35") flute and even a double 'A' shaped flute in low 'd'. I can hold small flutes in the front pocket and my music binder in the back pocket. The material looks rugged and handsome. I would have like to see more case colors available. For instance, the blue that available for the standard 30" flute case. As a backpack, it rests well on my own back.

Backpacker Native American Flute Case

I love the Backpacker Native American Flute case. It is very well made and it certainly fits 15 flutes and probably more if you have smaller flutes. I was able to fit my contra bass G and bass A flute in the case (I purchased the largest case size) as well as 12 other flutes ranging in key from low B to high C. I placed my higher priced flutes in a felt bag to help protect them from the other flutes, but there was still plenty of room for a lot more flutes. Before I used hard shell flute cases to go to gigs or jamming/practice sessions. Now I can just carry one bag and it's super easy to pack. An added bonus I was able to fit my 13" iPad in the outside pocket. If you play at gigs or jam with other flute players, this case is for you, however, if you are going to a gig by airplane I would use a hard flute case.

Perfect for my travels!

When I’m not in the states, I live on a boat (currently in SE ASIA). I purchased this pack because I was having to leave several of my flutes in a closed, hot, humid environment when I traveled back and forth. My previous pack was constantly flagged by TSA and had to be opened by them, and while they tried to be careful, they didn’t believe they were flutes until they saw them.
I’ve only traveled so far with about 7 kg (max carry on overseas) without flutes and the straps are comfortable. At my boat, I can fit all 16 of my flutes comfortably inside the case (one ocarina and an Irish tin whistle in the outer pocket because they are small). I look forward to traveling with my flutes and not having to leave any behind. I will update my post after my next TSA checks.
